At least one person has died and six others injured in two accidents on the Cape Coast-Elmina highway Saturday night.
A man in his 40’s died instantly after his Mercedes Benz collided headlong with a truck carrying coconuts.
While rescue operation was ongoing, a second accident happened about 30 meters away on the same highway, involving a truck with registration number GT 6957 C loaded with timber which collided with a taxi carrying two passengers and the driver.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the truck carrying timber logs failed to apply the brakes on time and crashed into a taxi which also crashed into another taxi.
The truck overturned and landed on one of the taxis with two passengers and driver in it. A combine team of fire service and police personnel were at the scene to retrieved persons trapped in the vehicles.
The two accidents closed the highway to traffic leaving passengers stranded for several hours.
According to eyewitness, the driver of the truck carrying coconut signaled to the driver of the Mercedes Benz who was overtaking to move into the lane of the on-rushing truck.
The injured were rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital where the body of deceased has also been deposited.
It took close to about 5 hours for the wreckages to be cleared to allow the free flow of traffic. This accident comes on the back of a horrendous one that happened on Wednesday night on the Tamale – Kintampo stretch which claimed over 70 lives and yet another Tuesday evening on N1 in Accra.
My question for Ghanaian Christians is this?
Are we praying for the nation or are we sleeping and allowing all this to happen.
We may not be directly related to all who have died but it behooves us to pray, we must not allow evil machinations free reign.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He choose for His inheritance.” Ps. 33:12
“He will be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge…” Is 33:6
It is “God who changes the times and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” Dan. 2:21
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph. 6:12
