“This then is the message which we heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is LIGHT and in Him is no DARKNESS at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His son cleanseth us from all sin.”
To have fellowship with people, there must be a level of commonality. Doctors fellowship together; artists fellowship together and so on, we always fellowship with our kind.
I once went to a place called Lions Park in South Africa. As I observed the lions from a distance, they looked very cuddly and tame as the cubs lay on their mother and the whole pride huddled together. I wondered how nice it would be to cuddle with them. I however knew that I could not fellowship with them because I was not a lion.
To be able to fellowship with light, you must be light as Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 6:14, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath LIGHT with DARKNESS?”
In this verse,”Light” stands for righteousness and “Darkness” stands for unrighteousness.
God is holy and righteous therefore to have fellowship or walk closely with Him, we must walk in the LIGHT. God cannot be around you when you walk in darkness.
Resolve to be holy today to deepen your relationship with God!
