Overcoming addictions is one of the most difficult challenges in the lives many people, both believers and non-believers. Do not be surprised when I include believers. Yes! Believers have addictions too.
Before anyone came into Christ, they had a life that was filled with darkness, engaging in all sort of activities that did not glorify God. Some of these were drugs, fornication, adultery, stealing, smoking, clubbing, drinking to get drunk, etc. These are just a few amongst many.
But what many believers seem to forget is that, though you became born-again in Christ, it doesn’t mean you’d still not be faced with the realities of those addictions. They still exit in your carnal nature. Salvation is in three folds;
a. Your spirit was saved when you become again
b. Your soul is still being saved because you’re in this world
c. Your body will be saved at the second resurrection when all men shall appear at the judgment seat of Christ
“When I became born-again and surrendered my life unto Christ, I was dealing with the weakness of clubbing and fornication. It was something I was dealing with, but with my own strength I knew I couldn’t win over these areas. I simply admitted and told God, the Holy Spirit to help me in these areas. Gradually, He did. Today I can boldly tell you that I have victory in Christ. But it took the power and help of the Holy Spirit. And I give God the glory. If I have been able to conquer these, then surely you too can. Just surrender unto Jesus Christ today and He will help you. He is always ready to receive you and help you.”
The Holy Spirit is sent forth to be our helper, helping us in our infirmities.
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Watch this amazing testimonies of how the Holy Spirit had changed the lives of these individuals who were addicted with one thing or the other.
Accepting Jesus Christ:
Dear God, I come to You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Your word says; “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. – Romans 10:9-10.” I confess this day the Lord Jesus with my mouth and believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead and is sitting at Your right hand reigning victoriously with You. Thank you Lord for accepting me and writing my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life and giving me Your Holy Spirit. This day I am born again.
