Prayers For Strength

how to develop a powerful prayer life
Prayer does not need to be a flowery speech; its how we talk to God. We pray when we want to communicate thanksgiving or a need to our Heavenly Father. He is the source of our strength and every one of our prayers is heard by Him. He not only listens and answers our prayers; He also tells us how to pray. We see the model for prayer as given by Jesus in Matthew 6.
Have you ever needed supernatural strength to face a situation head-on, but not known what to pray? God is waiting and wants to offer us strength in time of need. Do not be afraid to pray and ask God for His strength to fall upon you!
The testimony of King David was that the living God was his source of strength and courage. In Psalm 18 verse 1 we read “I love you, God— you make me strong. God is bedrock under my feet, the castle in which I live, my rescuing knight” (The Message). And when St Paul writes to the Corinthian church, he declares that “…when I am weak, then I am strong”.
Here is an important truth. All of us have things that we struggle with and things that at times seem to overwhelm us. The truth is, as believers we carry the presence of God because we have the Holy Spirit. We must be aware of this, the Bible says of the Holy Spirit that He is our helper, our comforter. God wants to be involved in every aspect of our lives, He is part of us, one with us and He is our strength. When you’re going through challenges, remember to seek God’s strength and how we can do this is in prayer.
Prayer for Strength and healing
prayers for strength
“But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you”
(Romans 8:11 WEB)
Father, thank You that you sent Your Son to bring me life
Life in the fullness
Life for eternity
Thank You that I share in Christ’s resurrection life
That Christ is alive in me
And His Spirit dwells deeply in my being
I receive the same power that raised Christ from the grave
I receive Your life
I receive Your strength
Thank you that all things are possible for those who believe
I thank you because I am healed by the stripes of Jesus
In Jesus’ name, Amen
Prayer for strength when grieving
prayers for strength
Lord, at the moment nothing seems to be able to help the loss I feel.
My heart is broken and my spirit mourns.
All I know is that Your grace is sufficient.
This day, this hour
Moment by moment
I choose to lean on You,
For when I am at my weakest, Your strength is strongest.
I pour out my grief to You
And praise You because You know what I am feeling
You have promised that You will never leave nor forsake me
I thank you because in my grief, You give me comfort, in my grief, You strengthen me.
Thank You Lord in Jesus’ name, Amen
Prayer for Strength for a Friend
prayers for strength
Lord, I come before you today knowing that all power is in Your hand.
I know that You are the Lord and that You care for your people.
Right now, my friend is struggling with a difficult trial.
I can see her strength is faltering, Lord, and know that You have all of the strength that she needs.
I pray that You will reach down and touch her right now wherever she is at this moment.
Let Your presence fill the room where she is and let her feel an extra portion of Your strength that can help her to get through this day.
She needs You now, Lord, and I thank You in advance for meeting her where she is and shoring up her strength during this difficult time.
Thank You Lord, In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Short Scriptures about strength
prayers for strength
Here are two short scriptures written by St. Paul. They speak of his personal testimony – how God strengthened him, and equipped him to accomplish great things:-
“I am able to do all things through him who gives me strength” Phil 4:13, (BBE)
“…be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might” Eph 6:10, (WEB)
In the last verse quoted here, Paul goes on to encourage the reader to stand in God’s spiritual armour, strengthened and equipped by the “belt of truth”, the “breastplate of righteousness”, a “shield of faith” and the “helmet of salvation”. (Eph 6:10-18)
Prayer for strength and God’s guidance
prayers for strength
Here is a great traditional hymn that you can pray line-by-line and ask for God’s guidance in your life, confess Him as your “strong deliverer” and receive Him as your “strength and shield”.
Guide me, O thou great redeemer,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but thou art mighty,
Hold me with thy powerful hand;
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.
Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through:
Strong deliverer, strong deliverer;
Be thou still my strength and shield;
Be thou still my strength and shield.When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell’s destruction
Land me safe on Canaan’s side:
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to thee;
I will ever give to thee.
