My full name is Joel Wuddah, I started my music with stage name Joey because it was the pet name everyone called me by. I released a single titled ‘The Gift of God’ and I was on the ‘Rap pills cypher doze 1’, all under the stage name Joey. By the time I got to jump on ‘Rap pills cypher doze 2’ I had to changed from Joey to Wuddah (my surname) because with the way things where moving so fast there was the need to rebrand.
The early days of my childhood, I had an amazing vocal of which I sang only gospel and love singing as part of my hobbies, unfortunately I got glued to singing circular rap songs at some point in time, so I abandon singing gospel songs and did just secular rap songs.
There was a time school authorities needed students to form a choir to sing at a ceremony and because I used to sing gospel in class I was asked to join.
Unfortunately during rehearsals I figured I had lost my sweet vocals, which got me worried because I didn’t know what went wrong to cut long story short I decided to stop singing and rapping for good.
Somewhere in 2015, I was listening to a sermon by Bishop Agyinasare speaking about how we are going to account for the gifts God placed in us and also how we used it to impact others. The message really hit me even though I was in a Gospel Dance Crew (Dance Shop) by then. Amazingly it was also during that time that I was also trying to get some folks to switch from secular to gospel rap and those doing gospel rap not to go back to secular..
Although the journey wasn’t easy for them, they have been trying to get me to do music but I always gave them excuses until one day, one of them came to me saying he wants to quit gospel because he didn’t have support. I don’t know what happened but I just felt in my spirit that I have to be that support he needs so I told him not to quit because I want go back to do rap music. And that’s how I started my music journey.
My style of music is ‘Rapomedy’. This is Gospel rap and lyrical comedy fused together. I prefer to convey God’s message of truth in a humorous way; seeking to motivate, inspire, address issues, put a smile on people’s faces and above all win the lost to Christ.
Im proficient in rapping in English, Pidgin , Ga and Twi, which I think with the combination of my skills, it is a powerful arsenal that could boost my talent by giving me a wide range of assorted styles. I have worked with Yung Alpha, Ams Writter, HarryKay, Bentino and a couple of other guys including francophone artists.
Taking you back a little to 2015, was at the point in time where some of my peers were frustrated because of lack of support and others really wanted to go back to circular music because there were some offers available, others wanted to quit music for good so I had come with something and that was how Rap Pills Cypher was born. Rap Pills Cypher is a platform where underground gospel rappers get the opportunity to show their talent during studio recording sessions and also the video shoot of Cypher in which they were featured. Doze 1 and 2 are already out but meanwhile, we patiently manufacturing Doze 3.
Wuddah has released two singles and four collaborations to date. What is the most exciting single that has enjoyed massive following so far, Is “Dey Der”. What inspired you? Well it was during that period that I was facing some few challenges and those that I thought where down for me where not really there for me, some of which I turned to rather worsened the situation and brought my spirit down. But one day I came across this scripture in Isaiah 40:31 which says that “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”. It was not the first time hearing this particular scripture but it really spoke to me and amazingly the year 2017 was declared as my year of soaring. So then I now knew that my situation wasn’t going to end like that because just like the kite needs a pulling down at some point before it flies higher, my situation is no different. I became more motivated to focus on the blessings that would manifest afterwards and that also encouraged me to do this song and to inspire others who are in the same predicament as mine.
Currently I’m working on some fresh singles so My fans should expect a song for this Christmas this December 17th. #Aaba! As the title is, is the Xmas box for all my fans and love ones. It’s anticipated to be a real banger so watch out.
