Security Man Convicted For Threatening To Kill Four Pastors
A Circuit Court in Accra will on Wednesday sentence a security man who threatened to kill four pastors of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council should they fail to pay GH¢5,000 each.
Emmanuel Yaw Owusu, who is a security man at the Anyaa Central Assembly of Pentecost Church, was convicted after he pleaded guilty to four counts of threat of death.
Owusu sent this text message to the four pastors: “We are robbers. We demand 5,000 Ghana cedis from you and your church or we eliminate you and your family as well as 5,000 members of your church. Send it or action.”
He claimed to have got the numbers of the four pastors – Rev. Dr Nana Anyani Boadum, Rev. Dr Prince Baah, Bishop Samuel Noi Mensah and Rev. Christopher Marfo Ahenkorah- from a 2014 and 2015 church dairy.
Owusu said he saw the pastors’ names and telephone numbers as being members of the Ghana Pentecostal Council. He, however, denied being a robber, adding that he had earlier apologised to the pastors.
Narrating the facts, Chief Inspector Ofori Amanfo the complainant, Rev. Dr Boadum, is a clergy and the General Overseer of Jesus Generation Ministries and that on March 23, this year, the complainant received the threatening text message from a Vodafone number 0200381608.
