Your family attends church each week and works hard to have family devotions. What are some other ways you can be spiritual leaders in your home?
Moms and dads are very wise to see spiritual leadership as a primary responsibility. This biblical mandate is expressed in Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 78; Joel 1:3; Ephesians 6:4-5 and other Scriptures.
Family devotions are critical. Here are a few additional ideas.
It is critical that your own walks with God are fresh, vibrant, and genuine. Your child learns best by observing you as much as they do hearing you. You are a living learning video for them. Model honesty, integrity, obedience, self control, and holiness in your own life.
Keep your relationship with your child strong and healthy. Rules without relationships lead to rebellion. Have family outings, laugh together, have adventures together, and spend lots of time together building the relationship. This will allow you to pass on truths, values, and morals and lead them to respect you as their role model and leader.
Plan family mission service projects together or serve together through your local church. Do not make church and the Christian life just a “club” you attend.
Each morning and night ask your child how you can pray for them, and then do it
