For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? – Matt 16:26
When we talk of value, we are referring to the worth of a thing. Worth or value is a relative term because what may be valuable to one person may not mean much to another. And it is not easy to measure value unless it is compared with a common denominator. So in talking of the wealth of a human soul we are looking at the price tag in money terms that will be equivalent to the human soul. The question then is, what will you give in exchange of a human soul?
(Matt 16:26) For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? this is a rhetorical question from the master. The answer is obvious, not even the whole world is worth as much as a single human soul. You, yes you! People may not have valued you much; they might have even spoken you down and treated you as a nonentity but that is not your value. What man thinks of you is just their opinion it is God’s word that matters.
Your true value is not even what you think about you, it is what God says you are. If you give your soul in exchange for all the riches of the whole world according to God you’ve been cheated because you are worth far more than the world. You need to understand that you are very important to God your maker and He is the only one who knows your true value. Your true value is not in where you live or come from, it is not even in the things you possess.
You may not have anything you can call your own but that doesn’t change your value. You are as valuable to God as Jesus Christ. This is the reason He gave up Jesus Christ in other to receive you.
