The Wedding Gown Series: A-Z List of International Wedding Dress Designers (A)

For women, the wedding gown is as important as the wedding itself. The thought that goes into choosing the right gown and the right design can be as much as the thought that goes into planning the actual wedding.

Here is an extensive list of famous wedding dress designers, anywhere from London to NYC, as well a little bit of information about their style and price ranges. It’s a lot easier to find the wedding gown designer you really like and then get your online order in as soon as possible, or find a store location near you that carries that designer’s wedding gowns. That way you don’t go to your cities nearest bridal shop, only to find that they don’t have a single wedding gown that fits your taste.

1. Adele Wechsler

After high school, Adele studied design and fashion in Durban, South Africa; now leading the fashion industry with a showroom and manufacturing space in North America. She has a welcoming alternative with her distinctive designs, especially if you’re looking for something other than the traditional “Cinderella” style wedding gown.

2. Alfred Angelo

This family owned company, originating in the 1930’s, has a knack for high quality and hundreds of dresses in sizes 0-30, and something for every taste and budget.  They also have a large array of options for your bridesmaids, mothers and flower girl.

3. Alfred Sung

Alfred Sung is Canada’s top fashion designer and international style maker. He has a new collection of pure silk gowns and his paradise collection is perfect for any beach wedding. There isn’t an extensive selection, but certainly some designs you can’t find anywhere else.

4. Allure Bridals

Allure Bridals has some of the most stunning, modern dresses on the market and are available at many stores throughout the United States, Canada and Internationally. Most of their wedding gowns are available in size 2-32. I am very impressed with their website and how easy they make it to browse through their selection of gowns, offering many different views and angles in their galleries. They also offer footwear and bridesmaid dresses.

5.  Amsale

Expect ultra modern, chic and sophisticated dresses with this designer. Nothing over the top, just refined, timeless elegance. Her gallery pictures are mostly runway photos, with 3 alternate views: front, back and close up, with stores locations all throughout the U.S. and internationally. Amsale is also the designer for the Christos Collection of wedding gowns.

6. Anjolique Bridal

With store locations all over the world, her collection is extraordinary! If you like the trumpet or mermaid style gown, among others, this designer has a large array to choose from. Most of the dresses are $1,500 and above.

7. Anne Barge

Definitely a designer with lots of feminine details, such as floral appliqués and lace; store locations in the United States, Asia, Australia, Europe, Canada and the Middle East.

8. Aria

A beautiful selection of wedding gowns as well as bridesmaid dresses, many of them with the sash or bridal belt style, but limited in their retail locations. Most of their show rooms are in California, D.C., Colorado, Massachusetts, Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, Amsterdam, and Toronto, Canada.
