MEMORY VERSE

People are born for trouble as readily as sparks fly up from a fire – Job 5:6-7.

MESSAGE

It is important to understand the origins of life battles. This is to help us in fighting all life’s battles with precision and effectiveness.

Unfinished Battles By Our Parents

If your parents defeated all the Goliaths that faced them, you might have been spared of some battles today. Many of us today are fighting battles our parents passed over to us. It could be marital battle, financial battle, or moral battle. The battle has lingered in the family because no one has confronted the battle and defeated it. We ministered to a lady sometime ago who was battling with breast cancer, an affliction that killed her grandmother and her mother. That is an example of an unfinished battle.

Battles Created By Our Parents

We can also call these transferred battles. If your parents seeked help from several sources and died without paying the debts. They leave a battle of indebtedness for you.

Self-Induced Battles

These are battles you allowed by exposing yourself unwittingly to the enemy. It could be because of an error in behavior, conduct, or speech.

Imposed Battles

The enemy often sponsors such battles because he has seen your ‘star’ and your potentials. The enemy of your ‘star’ can wage war against you in order to bring down your ‘star’. King Herod saw the ‘star’ of King Jesus and decided to wage war against the owner of the star.

  • Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born (Matt. 2:1-4).
  • And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him (Matt. 2: 13).
