This scripture speaks of a time to mourn and being comforted.Breaking it down;
To be Comforted means to be Cheered up have ,to have satisfaction ,to be assured the worse is over ,to be less worried.
To Mourn means to be in pain or hurting ,to express sadness for disappearance of something ,to feel or show deep sorrow for the loss of someone or their death.
Why mourn as a christian?
1.we need to mourn for spiritual things-
For this there is the mourning over spiritual state of a family,a community or a nation: Isaiah 64:1; John Knox prayed and cried unto God . How much mourning have you invested to save someone through intercession? When God places you in an office he put you there so the people you work with might be saved.
God made you the light in that family, Jeremiah 9:1; there are times we get satisfied and forget our relatives and friends but you owe them a responsibility to bring Change into their lives .
God is not willing for any to perish, when Stephen was being stoned he saw heavens open and Jesus standing at the right hand of God and said to Jesus lord forgive them for they know not what they do.
If he had said, father let the world die we would have missed 13 epistles of the Bible .
Instead of seeking revenge pray for them. Jesus even at the point of death interceded for the people around when was the last time you fasted not asking anything for yourself but for others? May you have a passion to fast on behalf of someone.
2.If we have missed God we must long for another chance-
There are things we do against God but we should be able to seek God. When David sinned he did not give excuses but instead he knelt before God and sought his face mourning for anything he did that did not bring Glory to God. The house of God is no place for sin.
2nd Corinthians 7:8-10 Peter sinned against God and quickly he wept and repented Judas did same.
3.Genesis 30:1 mourn to change bad situations-
People might not understand why you pray or attend prayer meetings. There are times God doesn’t move when you are not desperate enough; desperate prayers brings desperate results the key is in Gods hands Genesis 30:22.
There is no situation God cannot change 2nd kings 20:1-5 Hezekiah wept and prayed to God and he heard his prayer and God saw his tears and healed him.
1st chronicles 4:9-10 Jabez was born in sorrow but he did not stay in that he did not allow that to continue with him but asked for a change.
Jabez prayed four (4) types of prayers asking for four (4) different things –
1. He asked to be blessed.
2. He also asked God to enlarge his coast.
3. He told God to let his hand come upon him.
4. He then asked God to deliver him from evil.
